A lot of eyes were on Sony at the Media Investor Conference quite recently, where the company revealed their plans of world domination increasing profit in 2010. The interwebs got an unpleasant jolt of "WTF?!" yesterday when they spotted a line that read "new revenue stream from subscription" under PSN in the Sony presentation.

SCE head Kaz Hirai quickly moves to soothe the angry mob, saying that the current PlayStation Network services will remain free.

“SCE will further increase sales by offering users new entertainment through the combination of hardware, software, peripheral and PlayStation Network,” Hirai explains. “Especially in the online area, we are studying the possibility of introducing a subscription model, offering premium content and services, in addition to the current free services.”

As such, you would still be able to play games online for free via PSN. The revenue stream in the presentation points to new "premium" services and content still to come to the online front, so there's no reason to light the torches and grab the pitchforks...just yet. Hirai didn't specify what kind of premium services are coming to PSN, but I figure we can expect price tags on future additions like *gulp* cross-game chat.

PSP homebrew developer Pspflashsystem has released a new plugin called TimeBatteryPercent. This plugin displays the percentage of available battery on the PSP XMB. It also adds a year value to the date.

Note that TimeBatteryPercent v1.0 is for CFW 5.50GEN only. It does not work on 5.00M33, 5.03GEN, and other lower firmwares.

Go to time and date settings and change it to a 24 hour clock, the percentage should pop up

Bubbletune has updated the very essential Game Categories to v11!

Are you ready for the next battle? Namco Bandai has today announced that Tekken 6 has officially gone gold for the PSP and is now currently in manufacturing ready for the November 24 launch date across North America.

The storied fighting franchise returns to Sony's handheld with familiar faces and new characters to create the largest line-up of fighters the series has ever seen. It will feature a variety of games mode from Arcade, Story, Time Attack, Survival, and Gold Rush to collect in-game money, customization items and character specific storylines. Tekken 6 for PSP will also support ad-hoc multiplayer battles across an additional four stages. Furthermore, players will have the ability to transfer ghost data allowing fights against opponents' characters even when not connected with them.
